What Can You Use the Hilton Aspire Credit For?

In short, everything that can be charged to your room.

This credit covers a wide range of expenses at participating resorts. Here’s what you can use it for:

  1. Room Rates: Pay for your stay (if booked directly through Hilton).
  2. Dining: Enjoy meals at on-site restaurants, from casual dining to fine dining experiences.
  3. Spa Services: Use the credit for massages, facials, or other treatments.
  4. Resort Activities: Many resorts offer unique experiences like snorkeling, golf, or cultural tours that qualify.
  5. Parking Fees: If you’re driving, you can offset parking costs.

Pro Tip: Always charge these expenses to your room and pay with your Hilton Aspire card. Third-party bookings (like through Expedia) and taxes DO NOT qualify.

Third-party bookings through sites like Expedia or Hotels.com do not qualify, even if the hotel is on the eligible list. Taxes and fees typically do not trigger the credit either. Charge everything to your room and settle the bill with your Aspire card at checkout.

You Still Earn Points on the Reimbursed Amount

When you pay with your Aspire card, you earn additional points on the total amount spent at the resort. For example, if you spend $400, you will receive points for the full amount, even though some or all of it might be reimbursed. With this card, you receive at least 34 points/USD.

That comes out to 34 points per dollar when you factor in your base Hilton Honors rate, Diamond status bonus, and the card’s own multiplier.

Base Hilton Honors Rate10xStandard rate for all Hilton Honors members
Diamond Status Bonus10xComplimentary Diamond status from the Aspire card
Aspire Card Rate14xAdditional points for paying with the Aspire card

Hilton points are worth roughly half a cent each in most redemptions. On a $400 resort stay, earning 34x means around 13,600 points on top of getting the stay effectively free. Our complete Hilton Honors guide covers where those points go the furthest.

How to make the most of Amex Aspire Credit

To get the most value from this benefit, follow these strategies:

Choose Premium Resorts

Maximize the credit by selecting high-end resorts where amenities like dining and spa services are more expensive. For example, the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi or Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa are great choices where the credit can go a long way.

Straddle June and July if You Can

Since the credit is split into two $200 periods, plan stays in both halves of the year. You can also stay at the end of June/beginning of July. You will be reimbursed as long as your charges post at the appropriate time.

Bundle Your On-Property Spending

Combine eligible purchases like dining, activities, and spa treatments during your stay. For instance, charge a romantic dinner, a morning yoga session, and a snorkeling tour to your room to maximize the credit.

Coordinate With Other Aspire Benefits

Pair the resort credit with other card perks, like the free weekend night certificate, Hilton Honors Diamond status benefits, and bonus points earning potential. For example:

  • Use the free night certificate to extend your stay.
  • Take advantage of complimentary breakfast and lounge access from your Diamond status.
  • Use the $100 Conrad or Waldorf stay credit along with this benefit.

Best Regions to Use the Credit

Eligible resorts span dozens of countries, which means no matter where you are traveling, there is probably a qualifying property nearby. A few regions stand out for travelers maximizing the credit alongside a Hilton points redemption.

United States

The US has the largest concentration of eligible resorts. Hawaii is one of the strongest options. The Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island is a full resort experience with multiple pools, dining, a dolphin encounter program, and plenty of on-property spending that the credit absorbs easily. We stayed there and wrote up the full experience here. The Florida properties, Scottsdale resorts, and Caribbean-adjacent options like Puerto Rico are also worth browsing on the map.

Asia and the Pacific

Japan, the Maldives, Bali, and French Polynesia all have eligible properties. These tend to be the most aspirational options on the list. The Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi and the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa in Tahiti show up frequently in Aspire discussions because the on-property spending is high and the credit barely makes a dent in what most guests spend. That said, even $200 off a $2,000 resort bill still reduces your out-of-pocket cost meaningfully.

Middle East and Europe

Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi have several eligible Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties. Since the $100 Conrad and Waldorf credit stacks with the resort credit, stays at these brands are worth targeting specifically. Italy, Portugal, and Greece also have eligible resorts if you are planning a European trip and want to layer the Aspire credit into your stay.

Our Take

The Hilton Honors Aspire Card from American Express is a top-tier travel card packed with benefits, including a $400 annual resort credit, complimentary Hilton Honors Diamond status, and the ability to earn 34 points per dollar on Hilton stays.

Two players each holding an Aspire card and coordinating their stays can extract serious value from this benefit year after year, and it fits perfectly into a 2-player credit card strategy.
If you can pull off the June/July straddle, you are looking at $800 in resort credits plus two free night certificates from a pair of cards, which is a genuinely powerful combination for a couple traveling together. That is the kind of move worth planning around. If you want to understand how all those Amex benefits fit together, the Membership Rewards guide is a good next read.

Additional perks include $200 airline credit, diamond status, and elite car rental status, making this card an absolutely perfect choice for frequent travelers.
