If you hold the Citi AAdvantage Globe Mastercard, you earn 5,000 Loyalty Points after every four qualifying American Airlines flight segments, up to 15,000 Loyalty Points per AAdvantage status year.

American Airlines elite status is based entirely on Loyalty Points. Flights earn them, but some flyers do not generate enough through flying alone. That shortfall is usually filled through AAdvantage Hotels or shopping portals, both of which require additional spending.

The card
The Citi AAdvantage Globe card carries a $350 annual fee. New applicants can earn up to 90,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after spending $5,000 within the first four months.
This mileage bonus is separate from the Flight Streak Loyalty Point benefit. You also get $100 You also get additional benefits such as lounge access, incidental money to spend on in-flight food or beverages (you could use those for in-flight WiFi but that is now free for everyone), and $100 hotel credit, among other benefits.
AA Flight Streak bonus overview
Once you have the Globe card, you are automatically enrolled into the Flight Streak bonus. You can earn 5,000 Loyalty Points after every four qualifying American Airlines flights. This bonus can be earned up to three times per AAdvantage status year, for a maximum of 15,000 additional Loyalty Points.
The AAdvantage status year runs from March 1 through the end of February.
What counts as a qualifying flight
- Each flight segment counts separately. So, if you are flying from DEN-JFK through CLT and JFK-DEN through PHL, that will get you 5000 Loyalty points.
- Flights must be marketed or operated by American Airlines or American Eagle
- Basic Economy fares qualify
- Award tickets do not qualify
- Flights taken before becoming a primary cardholder do not qualify
The Basic Economy eligibility is worth highlighting. AA made changes to Basic Economy earning in 2025 that removed standard mile earning on those fares. But the Flight Streak bonus still counts them. If you book cheap Basic Economy tickets on connecting itineraries, you can accelerate through the four-segment threshold faster than you might expect.
