Updated July 2026 · 4 min read
Quick verdict

The Venture X is the most affordable premium travel card available. The $395 fee is effectively offset each year by the $300 Capital One Travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles. Lounge access, 2x on everything, and transfer partners complete the picture.

What to look out for

Guest Lounge Access Changed

As of February 2026, you pay per guest at Priority Pass and Capital One lounges unless you spend $75,000/year.

Portal-Only Bonus Earning

The 5x and 10x rates require Capital One Travel. Direct bookings earn only 2x.

No Major U.S. Airline Partners

Delta, United, and American are not transfer partners. Strongest for international redemptions.

Our take

The Venture X punches well above its price point. Compared to the Amex Platinum at $895 or Chase Sapphire Reserve at $795, paying $395 for lounge access and an annual fee offset that works is a compelling proposition. Note that Capital One tightened lounge guest access in early 2026. Solo travelers are unaffected; those who bring guests regularly should factor in per-visit fees. See how Capital One miles compare in our rewards strategy guide.
The 75,000-mile welcome offer values at $750+ in travel when redeemed at 1 cent per mile or higher through partners. The card's long-term value comes from the recurring annual credits that offset the fee year after year. For full partner strategy and transfer details, see our points transfer overview.
