We previously wrote about Global Entry (GE) and how it helps travelers enter the U.S. seamlessly and without long waits. Building on that, the Global Entry mobile app further enhances this experience by offering an even faster, more convenient way to clear customs upon arrival.
What is the Global Entry Mobile App?
The Global Entry mobile app complements the Global Entry program by allowing members to use their smartphones for entry processing instead of traditional kiosks. Approved travelers can now submit their information digitally upon arrival, eliminating the need to stand in line at airport kiosks.

Here is how to use Global Entry Mobile App?
Obviously, download the Global Entry app from the App Store or Google Play.
Log in with your CBP Trusted Traveler account.
You can then start your entry process at the airport.
The you will need to select the port of entry.
The app works at per-clearance facilities such as Montreal and Abu Dhabi.
You can then select the port you are entering through.
You can add up to 11 additional members.
Once you are done with that, confirm that you have arrived at the airport. You only have 1 hour before your submission expires.
You will take a selfie to verify and submit your entry. Make sure to declare anything you are bringing.
Once submitted, you will wait a few seconds for it to communicate and verify your identity.
You should get back the approval with an 1-hour countdown timer.
Skip the kiosks and simply make your way to the officer. They will most likely simply waive you through.
Things to watch out for
- Do not use the Mobile Passport App if you are using the GE app.
- Do not bring anyone who does not have GE. Everyone coming through GE line must have GE. This applies for babies and children. There are no exceptions.
- Declare everything you need to declare – gifts, food.

The Global Entry mobile app makes it very easy to clear Immigration and Customs. You can even submit it before you reach the airport. Global entry itself is very convenient – the app makes GE more convinient. We hope TSA pre starts using the same technology soon.
